Getting to the next level: Tips on how to get the job you love at oneUp

Our Head of People shares some pointers to help you apply successfully

Hello, my name is Sarah, I am Head of People & Culture at oneUp. If you are reading this short article you might be interested in joining the oneUp family. I have a few tips for you to help you rock the application process and figure out if this is a match made in heaven.

So where do you start? Just like in innovation, start with doing some research. I would suggest starting with reading about our job descriptions. Does it fit with what you are looking for? Look at some of your colleagues-to-be profiles and check their interests, conferences they go to, or contributions they have made. Interesting stuff? Do you talk about these topics as well? Conferences you would love to go to? Another option is to check out our oneUp page, we have communicated about some projects and achievements we are very proud of. Do you see yourself working on any of these projects or with any of our clients yourself?

The next step is very simple: Apply for the job at oneUp that you love. You will not have to wait very long, you will hear back from us within a few working days.

Once you decide you are in, it’s time to go to the next level and get in touch. Let's dive into the first two steps of our application process:

Step 1: An intro call with me or the others of our Peoples department.

This is the opportunity for you to gain some context about oneUp. Get an idea of who we are, what we do, and what we stand for. Some pointers for your intro call:

Level up on your knowledge about oneUp. Check our methodology, projects and our knowledge hub. Relentlessly Google people from our team. You're sure to find something interesting (or juicy).

Prep your questions. This is the moment to ask anything you'd like to know the company and the position you're applying to. Learn about our values and principles and see if they match yours.

Be yourself! Authenticity is a great strength, so we hope that you'll feel enough at ease to  show us who you really are. Don't hold back, we love people with character.

Step 2: Time to talk about innovation!

Next up is a chat with one or two oneUp team members, aka your potential new colleagues, in person or virtually. Here are some things to keep in mind when preparing for your Innovation Talk:

The big opportunity to show off your skills and enthusiasm to join. Be open and share your way of thinking and learn about how your potential new colleagues tick.

Spitball about corporate innovation, tech, sustainability or whatever else you're interested in. We're a curious bunch with a whole lot of other interests besides the work we do. We'd love to get to know yours!

See our office. If you join us in person you can get a good sense of the oneUp vibe. Secret tip: come on Wednesdays and you might be in for a treat.

Some last tips:

Think about your vision of innovation and your knowledge of different methodologies. What is your opinion on various innovation topics? Which topics do you like to talk about the most?

One more time, for the sake of it: be your real you. Show us your real colours, we love to get to know your actual quirks and features.
